By having this equipment inhouse we’re now free from the limitations of having to constantly rent from Oslo.

The new equipment will help raise the bar for films and commercials in Trondheim, for ourselves and others seeking to do the same.

Our short Alien Repairguy is getting ready for submission to Sundance Film festival, and Ambolt Audio is working hard to finish the sound. Today, Jørgen from Ambolt recieved the first batch of promo CD’s for his and Snorre Valens band Amish82 and their upcoming album “There Is A Solitude Of Space”.

The album is incredible, and we’re honored to not only have one of the best songs on it as the music for our film’s end credits, but that they also named this song after our film.

The album will be released on July 1st. In the meantime you can listen to another of their great songs here.

The two things we love the most here at Helmet are sci-fi and monsters, so obviously we were very happy when Geir Mogen & HK came to us with this project.

Together with Geir Mogen we really nailed the workflow on this one:
Before anything else, Alex designed and sculpted the monster in Zbrush. On the day of the shoot we brought a laptop and modeled a room to match the actual set, and put the monster in it. We could then experiment and get immediate feedback on how the monster would look in any given camera angle and lighting setup.

This was also a major advantage in post as we could simply drop new iterations of the monster into the all ready perfectly matched and lit scene.

We hope we get the chance to make more monsters!

UtAwards is an award show celebrating the finest of Trondheim. Helmet teamed up with Divensis and Nerdo to create the opening sequence and the graphics during the show.

SMN put on a big show in Olavshallen Concert Hall and invited employees from all over the country to celebrate the opening of their new headquarters here in Trondheim. We got to play with some of their visions for the future of banking, in an epic feelgood film that opened the show.

Almost all the shots in the film needed to be 3D tracked, and to be able to pull it off as quickly as needed Helmet purchased the very new PFMatchit from The Pixel Farm. It’s node based interface and non destructive workflow helped us shots tracked faster than ever before.

We finally got to shoot some scenes in Hollywood ^^

Atmel Corporation is a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of capacitive touch solutions. When they came to us and told us they needed an awesome film to launch their new maXTouch technology, we were thrilled. Then, when it became clear we needed to shoot some of the scenes in L.A., we couldn’t keep our pants on.

The film is about how touch-technology will be everywhere, and features lots of different locations; from the snowy plains of Tromsø to the sandy beaches of Malibu.

With so many locations, the deadline was extremely tight. Luckily Atmel had their own vfx people within their marketing department in Norway, so while on shoot in the states we would send back footage, which they immediately started tracking and rotoscoping to prepare for the interface overlays.

Since there weren’t no actual touch enabled products available, Helmet had to design some prototypes which where beautifully crafted by Ula Jern. The interface designs were done by Divensis Design.
